There is a bridge between Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its beautiful colors. On this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of peaceful meadows, with hills and valleys covered with soft green grass. When a beloved dog dies, they come to this place. The old and frail are young again.
Those who are sick or injured are made whole again. They play there all day with one another. But there is one thing missing. They are not with their special people who loved and cared for them here on Earth.
So each day they run and play together until one day, one of them suddenly hears something, a familiar step perhaps, or a never forgotten whistle.
They quickly stop, eyes looking deeply into the mist. The nose twitches and the ears go up. The wide eyes soften and stare. Then this one suddenly breaks from the play group and begins to run. You have been recognized, and when you and your devoted friend at last meet you hold them in your arms and rub your cheek against the soft coat. Your face is kissed again and again
and you look once more into the loving eyes of your trusting dog. Then the two of you cross over that Rainbow Bridge together moving on toward Heaven, never ever to be separated from one another again. |
